Let's Play!

Our approach is child-centered, trauma-informed, and grounded in clinical expertise. We understand that healing takes time, trust, and a space where children feel fully accepted. That’s why we follow their lead in sessions, gently guiding the therapeutic process with proven methods that honour each child’s unique story and pace.

Play Therapy Can Help!

Whether your child is navigating anxiety, grief, behavioural concerns, or the impact of trauma, our goal is to walk alongside your family with compassion, professionalism, and support you can count on.

At Red Deer Play Therapy, we’re here to support emotional growth, strengthen resilience, and foster healing—one play session at a time.

Our play therapist is ready to support your kids through both in-person and for online sessions.

Tell me more

Play therapy gives children a safe and gentle way to share their thoughts and feelings—especially when they can’t find the right words.

Play therapy allows children to address difficult subjects both directly and indirectly through the safety of play and imagination. Through pretend play, games, and other fun activities, kids build confidence and learn how to understand their emotions, get along with others, and solve problems.

It also encourages creativity and helps children try out new ways to handle challenges, both in the playroom and in everyday life.

Play therapy strengthens the bond between the child and therapist, and over time, it can also help improve relationships with family, friends, and teachers.

We are committed to offering supports that are:

Integrative Play Therapy

Play Therapy is a gentle and supportive approach that helps children express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through play—something that comes naturally to them. In a safe and caring environment, the therapist follows the child’s lead, allowing them to work through challenges at their own pace. This method helps children build confidence, develop emotional resilience, and improve their ability to cope with everyday life, all while feeling understood and accepted.

The play therapist can meet both in-person, and virtually.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a research-backed approach that helps people heal from trauma and emotional distress. In a safe and supportive setting, the therapist guides the individual through brief sets of eye movements or other forms of rhythmic stimulation, which helps the brain reprocess difficult memories in a healthier way. For children and teens, EMDR can gently reduce the intensity of upsetting experiences, helping them feel more calm, confident, and in control.

EMDR is available both in-person, and virtually.

Sand Tray Therapy

Sand Tray Therapy is a creative and hands-on approach that allows children to express their inner world using miniature figures and a tray of sand. In a calm, supportive space, kids can build scenes that reflect their thoughts, feelings, and experiences—often revealing things they may not be able to say with words. Guided by a trained therapist, this process helps children gain insight, process emotions, and build resilience, all while feeling safe and empowered.

Sandtray therapy is available to clients for both in-person and virtual sessions.
